Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer and consultant, a columnist syndicated, speaker writer, author and television personality. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. She sold the brokerage to NRT for $66 million. In the following months she resigned from the company. Corcoran, one of ABC's first Shark investors was a featured guest of every episode of Shark Tank. By February 2020, she had closed 53 deals. One of them was a $350,000 investment for Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten in an Irish-Catholic working class family. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. Her father was constantly switching jobs throughout Corcoran's entire life. In times, her family relied on deliveries of free food from a local grocery store. Corcoran claims that her father was a drunk who treated her mother with disrespectful and disrespect. Corcoran was a struggle in school, and was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. After failing several courses in her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School, where she was a D-student when she graduated.
