Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris born October 20, 1964) is an American politician and attorney who is currently the 49th vice-president of the United States. She is both the first female vice-president and the highest ranking female official of the United America. She is a member and former senator from California. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. She began her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to being enlisted into the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then to the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003 she was elected the city's district attorney. In 2010, she was appointed Attorney General of California and was re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States senator from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. She was a senator who worked for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. A pathway to citizenship for undocumented migrants. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She was well-known for the direct questioning she conducted of Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
